In early 2015, Rajiv Jhangiani, Jessie Key, Christina Hendricks, Beck Pitt from the OER Research Hub, and BCcampus surveyed faculty in BC (and beyond) on their use of and attitudes towards open textbooks and other open educational resources. We asked faculty about, among other things, how familiar they are with OER, open textbooks and Creative Commons licenses; whether they have used, created or adapted OER and/or open textbooks; their motivations for using OER; what sorts of barriers they experience to using, creating or adapting OER and/or open textbooks; and the impact of adopting OER on their teaching. We will report on our findings on a subset of this data, focused specifically on open textbooks.
